The Button Museum

One of the best things about the building that houses our retail store and studio is its history. A 1905 bank building, it features three gorgeous fireplaces, an amazing flamingo Audubon stained glass, and the original bank counter and teller windows.

But the best part? The old bank vault.

Originally two vaults (one for the cash, one for the safe deposit boxes), we knocked out the adjoining wall to make a space large enough for our Button Museum. The collection features Susan Davis' prized buttons, dating from the mid 18th century through around 1950s. Everything from Wedgwood buttons to the first plastic buttons are inside, complete with a history of each. Inside is also a special place for Susan's grandmother's buttons - where the whole business began.  While we'd love for everyone to be able to stop in and visit, for those that can't make it we will begin featuring a different button or collection every Monday. Check back next week for our first installment of Museum Monday!
