The advent of a new year means one thing to us in the gift industry—time for market! While those in other industries may have a metaphorical sense of new beginnings in January, we get the real thing: new lines and products if you’re a store owner, and new products and displays if you’re a vendor.

At Grandmother’s Buttons we have both a new booth design (we tried it out in Paris first!) and new show specials designed around one-of-a-kind jewelry displays.
First, the show specials. We’re most excited about the ring boxes made with Art Deco candy tins. Susan diligently canvassed Ebay and her favorite flea markets to gather these beautifully-aged pieces of advertising art.
We’ve outfitted the boxes with ring cushions, and are offering a discount on a dozen sterling silver, antique button rings (your choice of buttons if you see us at market) nestled in a box. Supplies of these boxes are limited, so order at market or order early.
We also love our new earring tree, designed with old spools from early 20thcentury British fabric mills. Each tree is made with an ornate candle-holder base, a spool, an etched brass collar and ten black enameled arms for earrings.

The tree itself will be a gorgeous addition to your jewelry display, but what we’ve put on it is even more special: ten limited-edition earrings made with antique buttons.

Our last show special offers our nine best-selling brooches displayed smartly on our charming counter-top burlap mannequin. We’ve noticed that brooches really are taking off again, and we just loved the way their sparkle contrasted with the burlap of our logo mannequin.
And of course we’ll still have the display specials that are listed in our catalog: the very popular cigar box ring display (we recently scored a collection of early 20th century cigar boxes that have beautiful graphics), the necklace stands made with spools, our beaded earring trees, and the charm mannequins.
Last but not least is our new booth display—gone are the shabby chic fabrics, replaced by hard walls decoupaged with pages of antique books and periodicals (these were found in shambles—we didn’t destroy any good books!). The look is clean yet vintage, and fitting for Susan who was after all an English, not art, major.
We hope to see many of you in our booths in Atlanta, Dallas, Chicago and New York. Here’s where we’ll be:
